Beware of Financial Scams
Tri-County Electric Cooperative wants to remind members to stay alert and protect themselves from financial scams. Scammers may pretend to represent the cooperative by calling, texting, emailing, or sending links that ask for immediate payment or personal account information.
Members should be cautious of anyone who demands payment right away, threatens immediate disconnection, or asks for payment through gift cards, prepaid debit cards, money transfer apps, or suspicious links. These are common warning signs of a scam.
Tri-County Electric will never ask members to pay with gift cards or prepaid cards. If you receive a suspicious call, message, or email, do not provide your personal information or make a payment until you verify it is legitimate.
When in doubt, contact Tri-County Electric Cooperative directly at 803-874-1215 or toll-free at 877-874-1215. Staying informed is one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family, and your account from fraud.
